The beauty of winter cycling in the Netherlands

Once again, I ride towards the Dutch dunes but winter made the landscape somehow more ghostly. A very cold ride, with showers of frozen rain every now and then. The positive side is the almost complete absence of people on the road, a perfect situation to be alone with your bike and yourself.

Thanks to the bike infrastructure we have in the Netherlands, you can explore many inhabited places, far away from crowds and loud noises. Moreover, the area is full of architecturally interesting bridges.

There is also a wonderful view of the Rotterdam shipyard and some off-road riding for good measure

As someone who grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the US, I love that weather 🙂 As someone from the US in general, I envy your wonderful bike paths!

I’m just planning on coming to NL for a short trip and cycle in December, I was on the fence about it but I’m going to give it a go

Writing as an Australian, I am just in awe of the beauty of your country's urban environment - and its bike paths. I can't wait to bring my bike over there and do some cycle touring.
I would gladly trade our warmer weather for your amazing infrastructure.
