I come from 3 generations of oil workers. My grandfather hauled lumber in a horse drawn wagon for derricks in Oklahoma. My father worked in oil production in Wilmington, CA. My brother worked in a Mobil refinery in Torrance, CA until he became a 6th grade teacher. He died early (age 57) from multiple myeloma most likely from his time at the refinery, or perhaps when he was 20 and had to crawl into oil tanks in order to clean them without proper protection equipment in the 70s. Oil is dirty and carcinogenic. My husband and I have had solar panels since 2001. Last year our electric bill was $8.14 for the whole year. We just need good storage batteries for the clean energy and hopefully that is coming (google MIT Battery storage). Even oil companies in Europe are starting to invest in clean energy because they know fossil fuel is on its way out. Nothing remains the same. Things change.
