"it takes 5 seconds for him to get to u
Me: it took 60 secs for u to close the door

Just multiply the velocity of the creature by 4 and you will get the answer
Like 15 × 4 that is 60,
And the distance is 75 meters.

So, No that creature won't be able to reach you.

I love how we can also think of this rationally in less than that 1 spare second too

"will you get caught"

Me: Still calculating

well by the time you finish doing this equation, the creature would have reached you

Several faster options are available.

These include:
Constant Velocity × Time (15m/s × 4) to figure out how far the thing gets in 4 seconds. If the result is less than total distance, you're good.

Distance ÷ Time (75m ÷ 4s) to see how fast the thing needs to travel to each you in the time limit. If the result is higher than constant velocity, you're good.

Distance ÷ Constant Velocity (75m ÷ 15m/s) to see how long the thing takes to travel the distance at its velocity. If the result is higher than the time limit, you're good.

If you multiply time needed for closing of doors by creatures velocity, you get that creature will be 15m away from door, when it its shut... you have two ways how to solve it :P

Tip: do 75m • s/15m and then divide and cancel out units. Trying to solve it when it’s a complex fractions will make it… complicated 👀

This is the same as “every second your not running, I’m getting closer”

Bro that’s awesome how fast you just taught me this I’m having a hard time understanding my AP Physics teacher😭

If you multiply the speed by the time it needs to reach you get the distance the creature ran.

So to reach the person, the speed times the time to reach must be equal or greater than the destination distance.

The speed equals the distance divided by the exact time to catch the person.

D = 75(m)
t = 4(s)
V = 15(m/s)

V > D / t (to reach)

i love how you made a simple equation so complex

1. Realize that if the door is 3/4ths closed, the creature will still be too late, so you actually could say the door will keep you safe within 3 seconds.

15 x 3 = 45, so the creature won't even be close by the time the door is keeping you safe.

try this
A car C moves on a straight trajector (o, ī) by a uniformely decelerated movement such as its acceleration value is a=2m/s². At the moment t=0s, the car moves by a velocity v=9m/s and passes by point xA=-8m.

In the same basis (o, i), at t=2s and at xG=11.2m, a girl G walks by a uniform movement such as her velocity v'=3.4m/s.

1) At what instant and what point would the car stop in?

2) At what point would the car be in at the instant t=2s?

3)a) Without calculating, deduce that the girl and the car wouldn't meet at the instant t=2s?

b) At what instant tM and point xM would the girl and the car meet in then?

just multiply the speed of the creature with the time the door takes to close, no need for all that extra math

Him: making a super unecessary math calculation
Me: Just multiplying 15 * 4 (which is 60, which means the creature wouldn't be able to get you).
