What criterion would be used? For instance, how about repertoire? It was rather small. It centered on his own compositions. He had little cornerstone German/Austrian repertoire, or French for that matter. (Incidentally this is a recording of a piano roll.)

The best pianist ever in my opinion is Mozart, Mozart highly influenced beethoven, beethoven taught czerny the piano, and czerny taught liszt, then liszt taught siloti, and siloti taught Rachmaninoff, but the best composer for me is vivaldi because bach was influenced by vivaldi, and mozart was influenced highly by bach, and haydn.
