What did you think of the song? Was there a part that stood out to you most?

I saw an interview with Eric Church. He cut this track before everything happened with George Floyd and the protest. It is aimed at country artists not keeping it real. The song just so happened to coincide with the world now. Which is pretty cool.

The beauty was it was it was written in January - to quote EC We were in the mountains of North Carolina, this is January, this is before COVID, this before social, racial unrest, riots, protests… and as real as the song was to me then, it became a hundred times more real as time continued to evolve. And that’s rare. I’ve only had that happen maybe a time or two. And it just felt like I was meant to cut the song and to sing the song and that’s the reason it’s the first single.”

You should react to some of Taylor Swift’s songs — specifically the lyrics because she does a great job with lyrics. The Man, my tears ricochet, All Too Well, etc.

Eric Church is a great artist. He is right..we need more songs like this. However, as good as this song is and how much I love it a lot of times I come away from Eric Church wondering if he ever really does enjoy his music or if he is just always really pissed off. His aren't that different than other counry artists either "Drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke", "Desperate man" Booze, Jesus and Mama are still his go to topics as well. He has NO room to criticize in that area. He's no more country than Luke Bryan or Keith Urban.

I love ERic Church because he can sing about all this stuff..and he's right. But, artists have started to take it to heart. No, not all of them will. But, Eric Church never seems to be in his element unless he's really mad about something. He kind of sucks the joy out of music sometimes.
