How can we be sure that we are saved? How can I be sure I am going to heaven? In this video, Chad Bird describes a crucial shift of focus that generates confidence instead of doubt regarding our salvation. Rather than focusing upon ourselves, we focus upon Christ.

"When I look at myself, I don't see how I can be saved. But when I look at Jesus, I don't see how I can be lost.” Martin Luther. ❤

“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved”(Matthew 24:13).

A man who only has a few months to live came to our church in January 2023. He never been to a church and never knew Jesus. But he accepted Christ that month and got water baptized a few weeks after. He volunteered at the church because he found where God is working. He focused on Jesus like Jesus is all that he has left. He died a month later. I wish I have a mindset that I have a few weeks to live so I can focus on what really matters - Jesus.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. The things of earth will grow strangely dim. In the Light of His glory and grace.

Took me awhile to rest in the gospel when it was finnaly presented to me in a way that made sense. I focus on and trust what Jesus did to save me. I love the verse that says these things are written that we can know we have eternal life! The scriptures and my born again spirit bear witness that I am saved

Knowing who I am IN Christ changed everything ❤ no longer a sinner but a saint who sometimes sins.

Jesus knows that I am saved. I trust in Jesus. I believe in Jesus. I am saved.

It happens when you stop trusting in your feelings and mistakes and you trust in Gods love through Jesus Christ

That article is describing evidence but not causes. So tricky. Thanks for getting right at the root

Thank you for your video on this. You just started showing up on my YouTube feed for whatever reason. Your video was timely in my life, even though it was uploaded two months ago. I am constantly struggling with this despite knowing what the scriptures state. I think this is because I have years worth of church teaching that I need to remove from my brain. Your YouTube video put it in perspective for me and does not contradict the scriptures, nor does it add or take away. May you be blessed in all that you do in sharing God with the world via YouTube.

Well said my brother! A needed message in a time where complication and deception are trending.

The simple answer is, have you believed in Christs finished work on the cross and if you have, you can be assured of your eternal salvation

1 John 5:13 gives us this assurance…

13 These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God.

Very well put brother. Most believers today could really use this perspective, this alone would destroy a lot of false doctrine.

That is an excellent word Chad and not quite how I was taught in my church growing up. When we focus more on ourselves and our works than the work of Christ and his righteousness then we are at risk of becoming judgemental, if that makes sense.

Yes! Good words. Christ for us! There is much comfort and assurance in this.

I know I'm getting into the weeds here. But I wish you would have addressed unconditional election.

Don't Lutherans believe that God chooses only some to salvation?

So it seems to me that the more urgent question would be, "How do I know I'm among the elect?"

Maybe I'm mistaken. But my understanding is that Lutheranism teaches that all people are objectively justified through Christ's death and resurrection, and that God desires all to be saved.

Yet, he elects only some.

So, how should we deal with this... paradox? contradiction?

Is it sufficient to remind ourselves that we are baptized?

I'd love to see a video on this. Really like your stuff. Thanks!
