Cam Newton's dejected interview after Super Bowl 50 loss

After losing the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton gave a less-than-enthusiastic interview to the media. CBSN's Anne-Marie Green and Vladimir Duthiers have more on the star athlete's sour interview.

Went to school with the guy at Auburn...Knew him before the world knew him. He's passionate. Have you been in his shoes? Have you practiced all week? Have you played in the biggest game of your life on a world stage? If not, back off.. Don't be that hater... Think about the thing you've wanted most in life and just being outplayed to get it... It hurts.... Seeing yall call him names bothers me because I don't think any of you actually do anything relevant in life.... As far as for the kids, I THINK YOU SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH REGARDING THOSE HE HELPS AND INFLUENCES...AT THE END OF THE DAY, HE's HUMAN.

I wanted Denver to win, but I really don't think Cam deserves all this hate. If he had a choice, he wouldn't have done the interview, but he didn't have a choice. He is human, he didn't say anything disrespectful, he answered the question and as far as him walking off the stage, I think he probably saved himself from saying something he would regret. The question being asked was, "Can you throw the ball?" Pretty insulting thing to ask a quarterback, wouldn't you say? I had mixed emotions. Was he a bad sport or was he just so disappointed and unprepared to handle the repetitiveness of the questions being asked? I am giving him the benefit of the doubt of the latter. Have any of you ever been in a situation that is basically the Holy Grail of your life's work and failed? He is 26 yeas old and unfortunately, this poorly handled interview will be what people remember instead of the good man he seems to be and the lengths he goes to to make children happy with providing them with game balls. Don't judge this inexperienced young man based off this interview.By inexperienced, I mean in experiencing such a major loss. What if a reporter walked up to you right after you were fired from your job and asked you how you felt and what you thought went wrong? How would you react? The media should have to give them some time to process this major loss. Also, I'm not laying blame I promise, his offence did not protect him from Denver's defense and he was sacked a humiliating 7 times. I don't know that they could have done any better against Denver's defense, but Cam certainly couldn't say, "Well, my teammates didn't block for me." He didn't make any excuses so you have to give him a little credit.

It's called being a good role model. Be a good sport and show a young athlete how to act professionally win or lose. What a cry baby

Cam might have been emotional and didn't want to show it. That kind of hit is hard for any body to save face. Ijs, we don't know him personally, so we shouldn't assume so easily

Back to sulking again. He deserved to lose. A lot of the hot air pumped into your self centered body was let out wasn't it, Newton? So much fucking hype from ass kissing commentators about him. Got nauseating. Maybe you can come back again one day Cam when you're older, not cocky, and more THANKFUL to be there. Still has a lot to learn in life.
