Now here's some Dr Pepper lore to add some context to this comedy: It was created in the 1880s by pharmacist Charles Alderton (who was originally born in Brooklyn) in Waco, Texas, and first served around 1885 at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store. Dr Pepper was first nationally marketed in the US in 1904. Charles first offered the drink to Wade Morrison, the drug store owner. Wade would end up naming it "Dr. Pepper" after Dr. Charles Pepper, a Virginia doctor who was the father of a girl Morrison was once in love with, and the period after Dr was dropped in the 1950s. The drink was originally called a Waco.

Dr Pepper was introduced to millions of visitors at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, where it was an instant success. Other major food products introduced at the exposition included the ice cream cone, hot dog rolls and hamburger buns. Following this debut, Dr Pepper grew to be one of America's biggest refreshment treats.
