I grew up in a town that had an issue with algae, the water did have a greenish tint but tasted, smelled like algae. When they were controlling the bloom with chlorine it tasted, my clothes in my suitcase would smell like algae

Power plant near me has both cooling towers and a reservoir. They are federally mandated to not put water higher in temperature than a certain amount back in the reservoir. So they have to have the cooling towers.

the carbon black coloring is the same thing they use in stuff like plant pots and drainage pipe.

it's basically soot mixed in with the plastic and the particles mixed in block the UV really well... definitely at least a decade probably 2-3.
