There is better way to write prompts in ChatGPT, the more specific you are. Whenever you are asking for advice, you should also specify what the chat gpt should act like.

So try starting the prompt with "Act like a Mechanical Engineer and help me with advice on an issue with my vehicle, the problem statement is following: I heard a clunking sound from the front passenger side of my car when I go over a bump, what specifically may be causing this?"

Had the same thought with this new age tool.. diagnosing for newbies will be so much easier than searching through outdated forums. I wonder if it can get into specifics on common issues for specific cars.

as far as i could tell with my research on this application, for openai's chatgpt, it has several possibilities on mechanic work. great vid

You could follow troubleshoot Flow Chart based on symptoms yourself to narrow down which is basically what gpt did but faster.
Until gpt has it’s own body with opposable thumb to physically check things in your car itself my job is still secure. Perhaps in the next 10-20 yrs.

I get that info from basic Google searches. Maybe it could diagnose an electrical problem. The key would be formulating a detailed question

frankly im unimpressed. if i can simply listen to a v8 engine and tell you which cylinder is misfiring then a computer should be able to do ten times that as i sam not even plugged into the obd connector ai needs to come a long long way before it will be able to do this stuff cause theres infinite possibilities and your not allowed to follow every path to find the solution. personally i think ai to diagnose a car is just a good way to spend a ton of money on stuf that doesnt need fixing
