Frog Sounds 40M QRP Transceiver receiver shows signs of life…

Made good progress on the Frog Sounds 40M QRP Transceiver. The receive side seems to be working although the 40M band is pretty dead this morning.

A few Frog Sounds Tips:
1) The silkscreen isn’t super good and I initially confused the marking for C1 and C4. Be careful there.

2) It’s worth noting that it is easy to confuse a 200 ohm resistor (red-black-brown) with a 1K resistor (brown-black—red)…

3) Building section by section on this radio seems to make sense… be careful since the parts list does not exactly match the schematic… and the schematic doesn’t exactly match the silkscreen. :-( Not a good beginner’s kit…

4) I would recommend kits and parts dot com or an MFJ Cub, or the best would be qrpkits dot com the simple receiver and simple transmitter combo kit for $45

I’ll send a update when I get the transmitter working and have heard a signal on the receiver!
