I'm still making my way through the campaign of the game. Coming out alongside Animal Crossing has been rough. I have 150 hours already in ACNH, so Doom Eternal has been taking me a little bit. Also I'm loving it so much that I'm really taking my time. I'll probably get around to FF7R in December at this rate. God damn is this game fun though.

This is the second time I've taken on a Mick Gordon track, and where with BFG Division I tried to recreate the song with only guitars, this time I just went all out in trying to recreate it, but where all the synth solo were guitar riffs as well. I really leaned into doubling guitars with really dirty saws to get this as heavy as possible. I tuned my 8-string down to DOUBLE Drop D! That's like your guitar tuned to drop D but every string is down an octave. It was really tough getting it tight so I actually ended up stringing the lowest two strings with bass strings to get the best tone I could. It was ROUGH to play but I think it sounded good in the end!

I also really wanted to play around with reamping, but I liked the song with the tones I got the first time around so this came together actually really fast! Besides feeling like I had to violently punch my guitar to get the notes to come out right, I had a really fun time putting this together. I've always kind of had this weird mentality with metal covers about not wanting to cover stuff that's already metal but... come on. How can I pass up playing these riffs?

I remember listening to this track over and over again before the game came out. I literally got goosebumps when I finally heard it in game as a swarm of demons flared into existence. The ripping and tearing that ensued was one of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming.
