Would you describe yourself as tone deaf? Do your friends say "I can't sing, I wish I could sing?"

You're not answering the question...some people sing al day long and still ...they sound like shit...and then some others come up from their caves...and start to sing like angels...it is undeniable that some people are more musically endowed... and talented...

Love, love LOVE this.   I have a chorus of 60 women now ( in a small, small town in Northern Ontario), but if I had a nickel for every time I was told during a vocal placement "my mother/old teacher/husband has told me I can't sing, so it's not a problem if you tell me I can't join the chorus"... 1/ I'd be rich and 2/ I'd not have a chorus.  :)

So yeah, i am a voice artist, but i just cant sing well... i can do tons of different characters....but for some reason, i cant sing with my own voice....sometimes even with characters voice i cant get it right...
I was having a major breakdown because of this...so i came across your video, and thanks for doing it.

I can hit those notes, it's easy for me but the problem is;

I was just singing then this lady came in my room, she said was that you singing loud. I said yes. then she said well stop cuz you can't. Now I dont want to do it anymore, ever again.

Sorry. This just isn't right. I have a lovely, expressive speaking voice. I don't claim to be tone deaf - I just can't sing. Beautiful voice. Wrong notes, off key 98% of the time. Impossible and rude for me to sing with others. Tried some training, not much help.

That's what I thought Deke! I have never been able to understand why so many people state that they are tone deaf. I knew that was wrong, but couldn't figure out how to explain it. THANKS!

I am 41 years old. I've been singing badly since I was a child. It is not that I can't sing because obviously I do, because it makes me happy. It's that I can not hit any kind of an actual note. I am so bad that when my kids were young they would cover their ears, and they had no clue I was that bad, they were two. So I may not be tone deaf, I can hear when others do it well but I cannot hear myself enough while I am doing it, to be able to actually tell when I've hit the note I need. I am pretty sure that when I sing, I hit notes that don't even exist because they are horrendous. Doesn't stop me from doing it, just wanted to point out that some people should just do what makes them happy no matter how bad they are at it.

Excellent video! Positive and inspiring! Music IS THE Universal Language. Like mentioned in The Music Man, singing is just "sustained talking" haha. Specifically, Barbershop A Capella has made me the musician I am today. In general, music is what my soul is all about. Thank you and keep up the excellent work brotha!

There was one time when I was "singing" with some friends, they looked at me in cringe. We were recording so I heard myself later and then I understood I can't sing. It was total cringe I was out of tune, totally horrible. I have tried a couple of times after but I have lost all hope.

I have been singing since I was about 10 been taking singing lessons since 14 & I’m 18 now. I still sound bad & it makes me really sad because I love to sing so much 😭

Love this. Practice make perfect? I sing a lot this few days on Smule and I lost my voice a little bit. I saw some people there and was like, how can they be so good on singing and make it look so easy?
