Excel Pivot Tables - Add a Column with Custom Text

preview_player
Показать описание
See how to add a column (or row) of custom text to an Excel Pivot Table. The table will stay dynamic, and if you update the source data, the table will update with it. The column can contain any text that you want. Also, you can freely move and format the rest of the table once you make these changes.

This is awesome. Thank you. I have spent at least 15 hours looking for this exact answer.

This is such an obscure function. I'd never heard about it and I think it can be extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

I like that Idea a lot. I had used this method, but included an Xlookup command fom my raw table.
In my case I wanted a pivot showing text matching a row/column pair rather than costs, count etc.
(I had a table with serial numbers for an assembly (rows) with subcomponent (columns) and I wanted to show the batch-number as values of that pair. Still required some manual work, but the result was what I needed)

This doesn't update automatically if a new sales rep is added to the data source. Any change in the sales amount is refreshed though. Is there any workaround for it?

Great video you got my humble like, once you convert to formulas, can you turn back to pivot table to continue editing?

Thank you ! However, for any MAC users, the option to "add this data to the Data Model" is not available. I currently using Excel for MAC version 16.44 and IOS 10.15.7. Excel for MAC does not have several "higher" level capabilities.

Amazing video. Very helpful. Many thanks.
If I may, I would like to ask you one question. I work on sales data which changes every day, some deals come in and some go out. My job is to connect with the sellers and take his/her comments on every single deal and make sure tomorrow when data refreshes those comments are aligned with their respective deals.
Currently, I am using Pivot and I created 9 of them for different markets, what I do here to keep the comments aligned are pick a column which is unique paste them outside the pivot, take down notes and when I refresh it tomorrow I do a vlookup beside the comment column and past the vlookup result back into old comment column.
What do I do to get this 9 different pivots in one single view and cut down the manual work?

Thanks for vid, ever knew that functionality was hidden in there. Comment however.
Si followed your steps and it seems to work fine until I add my columns. Is there a way for it to know to add cells to each column when new data is added? Everytime I refresh the pivot to add new data, it only updates the columns form the data source and not the "additional' columns I added. That skews the information in the pivot table i.e. The comments added are no longer referenced to the data for the associated row. Any way to change the setting? Ideally, if it could add the new data towards the bottom of that would be great. Thanks!
