I like this game the best in the series.
I like blood rage, but i hate the fact that new players around the table are heavily disadvantaged because they have no idea what the cards will hold (and the person next to them gets OP cards).
I like rising sun, but it's stop being fun with more or less then 4 players.
But played Ankh with 2 and it becomes an amazing head to head area control game, and played it with 5 with a merge (it was only a 4 point difference between the 2 last players and a 7 point difference with the first player) it was an amazing experience and just at the point you think you know who is going to win, the game ends.
It doesn't outstay it's welcome, even if you are in last place it throws stuff at you (the merge, the need to be out of the red).
And at the end, it becomes a very tense race to that last point with a hard brake on it, no 2hours of knowing who will win or kingmaking for the players who are catching up.

Eric certainly is a delight to listen to. I really enjoyed hearing him talk about the creative process and what was originally some ideas that were trashed. This trilogy is so dear to me in my collection! Ankh is so much fun and has a great fever pitch finale! Love Ankh and Blood Rage the most of the three!

I thought Candice looked crazy exited in the thumbnail, but she looked the same throughout the video. Hahaha
Great energy!

Eric seems like a wonderful person. As an aspiring board game designer, I would love to have a mentoring session or a workshop with him.

It's interesting that the most interesting thing in the design for eric, the merging and how gods interact, is really the games anchor. Conflict games where you suddenly force a kind of ackward limited communication coop where you're trying to get ideas across to a player without revealing them to the enemies at the table, and suddenly having to be forced to give up a part of your autonomy of deciding what to do is a weird mash that just doesn't sit right with competitive players, and coop players tend not to want to play dudes on a map.

There's also the weird balancing mechanism where you could be joining with someone who is the worst at the table, or everyone could be roughly equal. I don't feel like being hooked up with the worst at the table if you were in the mix is something that was really designed around, it's just like yup your game is going to go from okay to a huge drag, and there's nothing you can really do about that.

great interview, some great things, and good insight as to why langs cmon games feel like they feel.

Great interview. It's really interesting to learn how the merge mechanic was created and implemented.

Really a great interview! Some very cool insight. When Mr. Lang was talking about how his initial thought was having Ancient Greece be a part of the Trilogy, it got me thinking "how cool would it be to have an Ancient Greece/Roman expansion for Ankh? Since they heavily adopted Egyptian Mythology into their pantheon".

I kind of skipped through this looking for comments about the merge rule but couldnt find it. Any chance of a time stamp?

I originally passed on this Kickstarter because I thought ahnk looked too much like kemet. This interview makes me regret that decision.
