THE BOMBARDIER BEETLE SHOOTS ACID?!

The bombardier beetle is a professional in biological warfare. These tiny beetles live all around the world and defeat their foes using their internal network of reservoirs and chambers that, when under attack, mix together chemical compounds and release a burning hot acid from their rear. They can aim this liquid like a water pistol or release it when within a predator's mouth to force them to spit them out. The man who first discovered this beetle, Charles Darwin, learned this the hard way after putting the beetle in his mouth while he reached for elsewhere, when it suddenly decided to shoot its acid straight down his throat. Lucky for Darwin, the Bombardier beetle’s acid may burn but is relatively harmless.
