Damian Lewis grew up in North London and, after a spell in boarding school, returned to the city to study acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company before transitioning to television. Damian’s breakout role came in Band of Brothers, which was the most expensive TV show of all-time, in 2001. His portrayal of Nicholas Brody in Homeland earned him both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe.

His latest film, The Radleys, is adapted from a book by Matt Haig and tells the story of a family of vampires.

Nick mixes an Old-Fashioned for Damian while Angela prepares caponata bruschetta to start, followed by hearty pumpkin risotto, inspired by a butternut squash recipe by Martha Collison. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a Gabriel Meffre Côte du Rhône.

Damian Lewis is the perfect dinner-guest; he arrives hungry and armed with excellent anecdotes. Our trio cover how to cook octopus, what Tom Hanks is like on set and where Damian keeps his awards.

Michelin star chef behind him and he's saying can't beat beans on toast. Angela is like "wtf am I up here for then?" 😂😂😂

My mam used to cook one meal for all of the family and if you didn’t eat it you went hungry .Simple as that.

I got tired of fixing dinner and having everyone say "oh I'm not hungry". Now I ask each at around 6:30 if the are hungry and if the answer is no I tell them to fend for themselves.

That feels insane. Even as a picky eater my mom never cooked a separate meal for me.

I made the same dinner for the whole family. I was a working mum & have 3 boys so when they were young, it had to be hearty & filling. One pot was best, Spag Bol, Chilli, Chicken Pie, Sausage Casserole, Chicken Pasta, Pasta salad, Meat Loaf, Tuna Casserole, all cooked with fresh ingredients but they got 1 meal, they ate that or nothing. They are grown up now & remember that they ate well as children whilst their friends had chicken nuggets or fish fingers ( they had those occasionally) every night. My eldest son is a fine dining chef & is always complimentary about what I fed them. Beans on Toast with grated cheese is the best ❤

❤❤❤ Damian Lewis.
As the main cook and grocery shopper in my home, I do not make more than one meal at a time. But my children know how to cook - if they are hungry, they can always make an omelet.

Ive never made separate dinners for my kids, even when they were babies, but I always make sure there are elements that everyone likes, and no one has to eat what they don't want. I'm lucky that they are not very fussy kids.

Oh yeah I had a friend who had to cook 3 different meals for each meal, for her husband who refused to eat her home country cooking, one for her son and another for herself. They are happily divorced now.

I bulk cook on a Sunday and make a dish requested by each person, which serves at least 4. That way we have enough meals to last until the end of the week, when it’s a pantry/fridge/freezer meal.

Saves having to be a short order cook each night, my kitchen stays cleaner and everyone is happy.

My go to lunch of late is 2 crumpets, mashed avocado spread on top, then 2 tbsp of baked beans, 2 fried eggs topped with 2 slices of cheese cut in half 🤤🤤🤤

I make one meal - my kids either eat it or they don’t. I always have oatmeal, bread and fixings for a sandwich that they can make themselves.

Sometimes I feel guilty that we don’t eat dinner together everyday but then I remind myself that I spend just about every other second of the day with them so they’ll be fine. ❤

I totally get that. As we get older it becomes “ what’s easiest “. Love a good egg sandwich 🥪. But I’m from the US . I’m going to have to try this beans on toast thing, if for no other reason that I adore Damian’s work.✌️🇺🇸👍
