I managed to read a tiny bit of the note at the end.

While we don't see much of it the words I can see on it are "I am actually truly sorry".

It is an apology letter. I don't know who it is for or who sent it but I have the feeling that the apology wasn't accepted.

There's also a broken object there, most likely a syringe with a green substance which could be poison(?)
