Quitting van life full time to go into a base home, but still travel part time has been one of the best decisions for me as my life continually changes (as it should). There's been a lot of questions and assumptions in the comments about why I left full time van life so I'm going to give you the entire truth about why I made this decision to quit living in my van full time. I'm also sharing a few plans I have for future travel that I'm really excited about.

Can we just pause a moment to say: Dang, you were on the road for over five years. That's impressive and wonderful and rock-star level adventure. Brava!

My daughters and I have followed you from almost the beginning of your travels. Do you know what makes a true explorer, your destination constantly changes, and that's you. You have just come to a change in direction. The native Americans have always been a mystery because they would just up and go. I tour places and hear the tour guides say, oh the native people disappeared and we think, they died, there was a sickness. The truth is we left because the wind changed and we changed direction, we just went on. I use to ask the elders, why don't you tell them what happened to us and they would say because they wouldn't understand. So I and my girls will still watch your videos in whichever direction you go. Stay safe and be happy.

You are chasing your own story. Your channel is not just about living in a van. It is about your dream, your thoughts, your goals, and your ambition. You go Amber!!!! Live life as you see fit :)

There is a reason why full time RVing is most successful as a senior. Being a snowbird is a much more relaxing way to approach the lifestyle. Moving around less and enjoying the repetition of moving around in the same resorts. My WHY is to escape the cold Maryland winters. Amber you did a great job and full filled a dream. It's okay to close this chapter and embrace the new. Be at peace.

It blows my mind that anyone would think you were obligated to explain anything about your decisions. You do you. 😊❤️

I noticed quite a few van lifers have moved to a hybrid lifestyle. A sticks and bricks home base and a van to take out on smaller trips. I think it makes a lot of sense. I say do whatever makes you happiest and fits with your lifestyle. Wishing you all the best things for 2023!

You do not need to EVER explain your reasons for anything you do!!!! No one does!!!! It is YOUR life, not theirs.... you are making decisions for YOUR life and how to enjoy YOUR life. I find it amazing that others feel they have the right to dictate or comment on another's personal choices. Live your life...do whatever makes you happy: the only person you need to answer to is YOU!!! Love your channel!!! ❤❤

I could tell it was taking a toll on you. I can tell you are so much happier now. I would still love to see you travel still to new places when you can.

I’m a home body, I just love being home. We have a lovely camper trailer and we’ve done some great trips away but after about a month I crave four walls and all that goes with it. You are right, having to source water, think about rubbish removal, laundry and weather conditions does play on your mind, plus the security aspect of it.
Being mobile for 5 years is a great achievement and I hope you can now sit back and smell the roses for a while before hitting the road again. I think you live an enviable life. Best wishes xx

I’m sorry that you lost your companion, your travel companion in life companion. That has to be hard. And as you’re stating, if it’s a different chapters, a different chapter, you absolutely loved it and went through it for long enough to prove to yourself and others that you were serious about it, so this is your life you don’t have any no reason to be explaining your life to anyone. Best of luck in your future you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders.

You were on the road for five years and it was a great five years watching you have fun. This is a new chapter in your life and you’re going to have fun doing that too. Who cares what other people think your motives are your own. Love your videos. Keep them coming; no matter where you are.

You are 1 of many full timers I follow who have stopped now. The world has changed so much that we all have needed to re-evaluate our lifestyles. Fortunately I sold out just before the Big Bad C.

Wow! Some people felt like your original explanation of moving into a home wasn’t good enough?? That’s just amazing at the audacity. Just because you have been doing full time van life doesn’t mean you can’t change up things and still Chase Stories. I originally started watching your YouTube channel because I wanted to learn about van life. But somewhere along the way I was just excited to see where you were going next and what you did while you were there. I can’t wait for you to go overseas. Definitely interested in a story about being on a cruise. I have never been on a cruise. My family and friends tell you about going on cruises but you will be showing us. Don’t worry about what other people say. You just be you and keep chasing those stories. Hugs

I completely understand your choice. Van life taught me so much. I am now living in Southern Mexico on the Pacific coast in a not-too-big city. I wouldn't have had the confidence to do this as a solo woman traveler if I hadn't lived the van life for 3.5 years. I have traveled to 42 countries and have worked on a cruise ship so that I could explore the South Pacific countries like Fiji, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and all the islands and countries around this area of the world. What I haven't done yet is get to REALLY know the stars and the night sky. Texas has a Dark Sky area to see in Big Bend National Park. (There is a night sky app). I think it would be interesting to watch you plan and make decisions as you go forward into the next phase of your life. EVERYTHING we do takes planning. I hope you include us as you go through this process.

Great decision. I have been on the road 2.5 years. I am not sure how long I will do this before I decide to find a tiny home community. I am 75, so far so good, but all your reasons are so valid. Good luck and enjoy your life 😊

I think a home base is very important to have. Emergencies, etc, come up, or just needing a break from the road. Full-time van life would be exhausting after a while.

Amber, I support your decision. You should not have to explain yourself...
Just be happy ..🙋‍♀️👌

There are many who travel for 9 months of the year. Then, from what I call the holiday and tax season they at their home base. Also, they have "seasons". Examples: Keep Your Daydream and Less Junk More Journey, to name a couple. Both are families.

You have to become lonely traveling by yourself. Do what makes you happy. I have been with you for many years. When I first came across your channel, I thought you were a reporter. That's the 1st thing that came to mind when I saw your channel name.

Your channel name encompasses finding stories in different places, not just van rv life. Be happy for yourself. True followers will stay with you.

Such a great video. I sometimes enjoy watching nomad videos, but I know that life is not for me. I enjoy traveling, but I love a routine and am such a homebody!:) Being a nomad might be fun, but it seems so tiring. I hope your next chapter is so happy!!
