‘Hello My Dear Friends’ is THE iconic memory for me now of this 🇷🇺🇺🇦 War. It’s also strangely soothing. Like the BBC - ‘Good Evening This is London calling’ from WW2. ❤️

Dear Friend, for a 'special feature' episode, I would like to see a history of the Russian southern front attack from Feb until May. This clearly was a priority operation for the R and was arguably their biggest success in Phase 1. The the West, we got virtually no coverage of it (everything was focused on the Kiev operation). It you could, I would love to have you explain what happened. Why did the Russia's plan succeed so well? Why weren't the Ukrainians better prepared to resist that attack, etc. Thanks so much.

Brilliant analysis as usual. Your depiction of the conflict is remarkable. The way you present your unbiased facts with imagery is enviable to all these "professional" analysts. I can actually visualise the conflict, you are remarkable. Mnogo toplih pozdrava, brate moj. 🇧🇾🇷🇸🤝💪

Evening!

Thanks for updating Sunday as well )

I think the philosophy of small simultaneous bites in converging directions is going to be very advantageous and powerful. Plus there is a certain asymmetry about the road as there is a village right next to it on opposite sides - aiming directly into the forest.

It is such a nonlinear scenario I can see barely a couple of days ahead, if that.

So just as a guess I think the 25/35th might go for Mazanovka and then Krasnopollia starting tonight. At the same time the troops on the other side might try for Myakii and Donetske all simply because of proximity to the road and Sherwood.

If that works out then Sherwood (which I think should be really avoided by Russian troops: high ground and a dense trap) would be in the grasp of three artillery fingers : Cedrovoe, Myakii and Krasnopollia. In addition the road from the North into the Sherwood area would be locked at Krasnopollia. From there they can fire control the Southern side of the same road from Myakii and the area right behind.

This sort of distribution would probably present a serious dilemma for the Ukrainian commanders since they can either burn the forest but it would be too late in many senses or they evacuate it to the North Western trio of villages.

Either way, the Raigorodok and Sherwood forces would be separated and the only viable option for the Ukraine would be to join up at Slavyansk in the following 72 hours.

That could be one way of developing the new Russian frontline to the South West quickly (depending on Ukraine - they might choose to sacrifice more troops at Sherwood and buy time for Slavyansk as you explained).

Many thanks again - wishing you guys a good start to the week.

Thank you, excellent presentation.
Covers most of the really important hot spots.
Only area that didn't seem to be covered (unless I missed it) is the Kherson area.
Observation that the Donetsk river is low enough now that it can be crossed without pontoon bridges is news I had not heard elsewhere. If true, then that's bad news for Ukrainian forces relying on the river as a natural barrier... Maybe it can be crossed by infantry and light venhicles but not MBT?

It does sound like Ukraine is not being as successful as it has to be interdicting supply lines. Maybe a stronger Kharkhiv offense can solve that since most rivers flow north north west ot south south east, dominating northern territory might force supply lines to cross bridges which can be targeted.

My friend, your English diction is just fine . Any English speaker can adjust their ears to understand you just fine. What English speakers need is a better understanding how russian officers think about military ops and correct pronunication of place names. Like the British, russians seem to accept that in war defeats can occur and not to be afraid of set backs. Both accept rather slowly that lessons and tactics can be changed. Americans in contrast seem to think that overwhelming hardware and professionally trained and well supplied and flexible soldiers will always win with minimal loss. Only experience and time for reflection will show who is right. Great website.

Do you know if the Russians re-use those airfields/runways in areas they capture?
(I've always wondered about that when I see airport/plane icons on the map...Do they bring in more troops and supplies by helicopter or transport planes?)

I appreciate the accuracy of the maps, and also the speculation about intentions and strategy.
