I just got word one of the deceased was my grandfather just outside Augusta, Georgia. You never know how close to home these storms will hit. Make sure you keep your loved ones close.

My hometown in Vietnam was destroyed by a Category 2 hurricane. It was the most intense natural disaster that I had witnessed and still traumatized me to this day. Can't imagine this disaster. Prayers to all the victims.

You buy insurance for times like this. Then the companies won’t sell you insurance BECAUSE of times like this. It’s a terribly crooked industry that badly needs reforming.

Any insurance companies left in FL will surely leave after this….

As someone who lives in a cyclone (hurricane) prone area in Australia why are your houses built of wood? We have building standards here to prevent damage like seen in this video. Why is wood used so much in hurricane prone areas? Is your roof tied to the foundation? Is there internal bracing? Are the size of the windows engineered for wind? Where are your building standards for hurricanes?

I use to work at Tampa General Hospital and to see the Aquawall actually work is nothing less than astonishing. Nice job TGH!

At some point we need to stop rebuilding homes destroyed again and again along the coastlines.

I live in Florida, I live in a small town called Lake Placid, Florida. Our winds only reached about 25 to 30 miles an hour, hardly in a rain. I am way inland, about two hours southwest of Orlando. When you build on the coast, expect mother nature to take over, even when you build coastal inland, the closer you are to the water the worst it’s going to be for you and your home, and the flooding that’s happening. I’ll be praying for everybody just not in Florida, but for all the other states too.

I dont care for material things. I don't have insurance in my house because I buy them cash. I leanred a lot after losing my family members. You can always rebuild. The ony thing I would hate to lose are the pictures. But the rest is replacebale. Life isn't, be smart and save yourself, evacuate if you have the option..

They should just convert the flooded areas into a national seashore and be done with it. The future of Florida is to be an island state like Hawaii.

Rebuilding in these areas seems crazy! Just another storm will come through again and again. Get wise!
