Hi, Captain Steven. I love your videos. Thanks to your videos, I know how to fly a 777 without having to go to flight school. Now I just need someone to hire me. 😂😂 love your videos!!!

Private pilot here I love flying and I just love all the pre-flight and flight planning as well, especially now with modern computers. You can actually fly instrument approaches at home and log them in your logbook with Microsoft flight and you can buy a lot of the actual avionics that look in fuel just like the real ones I have it on your desktop at home. It’s amazing.

During certification the Boeing 777 test pilots could only find a runway with a crosswind component of 38 knots. That makes the MAXIMUM DEMONSTRATED CROSSWIND COMPONENT listed in the flight manual as required by the FAA. It is not a limiting crosswind of the aircraft. Most airlines use this number as a maximum crosswind their pilots can land with although the aircraft itself may be able to land in stronger winds.

I’ve landed in 25 knots in my Cherokee 180 and that was pretty spicy. Amazing what an airliner can handle.

You can land in ANY crosswind. Just depends on how many casualties you can tolerate.

You can do the same thing on an old analogue wrist-watch. You take the angular difference in wind direction and landing runway - say 30 degrees. You consider that as "30 minutes", and then multiply the wind-speed by the proportion of the watch-face covered by 30 minutes. So with 30 degrees angular difference HALF the windspeed is cross-wind. At 45 degrees, it's three-quarters, at 10 degrees it's one tenth. And so on. You can do this in your head, and it's pretty accurate.

Do you use the rudder to help adjust for crosswind? Flying was awesome! Big respect to all the pilots!
