Animal Kingdom’s KiteTails: A Kite Fail

Crash Into Animal Kingdom’s Latest Water Spectacular ! It’s always a joy to see new shows debut at the #DisneyParks, but for some reason, an unholy curse has been placed on the Rivers Of Light Amphitheater leaving only chaos! #WaltDisneyWorld was simply not prepared for the unpredictable insanity that is KITES! Jungle Book & The Lion King both are full of real silly moments.

Honestly Kitetails feels like a resurrection of those weird and campy parades/shows that Disney parks used to put on in the early 2000’s and I fully welcome it

I feel like if this show existed alongside Rivers of Light, then it would be received better as just being a fun little daytime show. But the fact this replaced a nighttime spectacular show at Animal Kingdom is why it’s considered so awful. Like at least Rivers of Light had a better budget and more effort into it, plus it was more themed around actual animals instead of just Disney IP’s.

Cannot wait for a video in 10 years that starts out with "Top 10 failed Disney Rides and Attractions" and Kite Tales places at a solid 3, right under Superstar Limo and LuminAria

My question is, if Disney knew that kites landed that way WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY LAND THEM IN THE AUDIENCE LIKE THAT!?! Why not have them crash backstage or something out of view? Also yeah the characters are just shy of T-posing through the air. WHO LET THIS HAPPEN!?

It's unfortunate that Kite Tails ended up as basically the Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark of Disney Parks, because it had potential to be amazing, and now, all of it's disasters have become subjects of memes on social media

Kitetails should be a night show. The jet ski wakes can be illuminated and take regulated precautions, the kites can be lit, the puppet performers can be added to stationary platforms at various depths from viewers, and extended use of illuminated fountains/mist would be a way to use imagination to the best they can at Animal Kingdom, for they can’t have fireworks.

🪁 This should have been less of a show and more like street-mosphere where like every 15 minutes you can catch someone flying a cool Disney kite out there. Just having fun casually flying a colorful kite. Totally magical but it’s just not sit-down-show worthy.

Also, can we focus more on the art and physicality of the act of kite flying itself and less on the design and size of the kite? Like hire a pro kite trick flyer to stand stationary on a barge and pull off some sick moves for 10 minutes!

Seeing how fun the elephant and turtle puppets are makes me wish they would have gone more in the direction of something like Legend of The Lion King where there's use of puppets but do it on boats. I know it would be a huge undertaking for imagineers, but it's at least something interesting compared to watching Baloo literally crash into empty seats.

Heres my theory. THIS is the variant moment for Mobius. His obsession with jetskis went too far and he made a show that would destroy disney (and possibly the fabric of reality). If we are lucky, we are gonna get pruned otherwise the kites will take over.

I cannot believe that I was lucky enough to be begged to have a seat for this first showing on the 29th. if I hadn't seen the disney suits walking around, I wouldn't have stuck my nose in. truly blessed by this insanity.

Love Lion King as much as the next guy, but Disney does have other animal-themed movies they can use. You know, if they need a new show they have a certain movie with a city full of animals that could work *cough* Zootopia *cough*

They should have used motorcycles. They have a little thing called traction!

Or, better yet, drones! Programable, easily controlled drones! That way, the kites could "stand"!
