οὗτος, αὕτη, τοῦτο - this; he, her, it

92.29 οὗτος, αὕτη, τοῦτο: a reference to an entity regarded as a part of the discourse setting,7 with pejorative meaning in certain contexts8 — ‘this, this one.’ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ‘this is my Son’ Mt 3:17; οὗτος ἦν ἐν ἀρχῇ πρὸς τὸν θεόν ‘this was in the beginning with God’ Jn 1:2; τοῦτο γινώσκετε ὅτι ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ‘know this, that the kingdom of God has come near’ Lk 10:11; τοῦτο ἀληθὲς εἴρηκας ‘this that you have said is true’ Jn 4:18; ἢ καὶ ὡς οὗτος ὁ τελώνης ‘or even like this tax collector’ Lk 18:11; ὅτε δὲ ὁ υἱός σου οὗτος ὁ καταφαγών σου τὸν βίον μετὰ πορνῶν ἦλθεν ‘but when this son of yours, who wasted your property with prostitutes, came’ Lk 15:30.
