Setting a Custom Scale and Measuring in Photoshop

The measurement tool in Photoshop CS5 Extended can accurately measure distance, area and angels in your image but did you know that you can customize the scale that you measure? Colin will show you have to use these tools and accurately measure the height of our stand-in criminal Karl Miller. Also covered will be out to print our 1:1 so that measurements can be taken from printed outputs.
NOTE: Photoshop CC 2014 contains all the advanced analysis tools previously found only in the Extended version.

**If you can't see "Analysis" on top menu** you probably have Photoshop CC: Go to Image > Analysis (bottom)>Set Measurement Scale > Custom. (Thanks Antonio!) Thanks Colin! This video is amazing!

I did what you said for product development. The ruler measures 20cm but when I draw a line or rectangle, it is not obeying the new measuring rules. Whats going on?

I wonder if there is any way to analyze the image in a way that the measured lines would stay as layers in the documents maybe with options as numbers from 1 to XX or with direct measured size in required units, similarly as tools for microscopes or processing softwares as Image J or Gwyddion can do? I truely belive that is easy to add and that feature would be perfect for many of us.. ?

This options are "greyed out" (not selectable), the only tool in the analysis that I can use is the ruler. Any thought on how to "activate" them?

Hi great video, how can I draw shapes on the photo so that they come out true size and shape regardless of the perspective in the photo?  i.e in you video the door is misshaped due to perspective but it is actually a rectangle, if I wanted to trace the shape in the photo but then export the true accurate shape as a rectangle, is this possible?

Please fix your recording framerate. Good tutorial but hard to watch because of that.
