VMG celebrated Juneteenth: a celebration of freedom, culture, and empowerment, earlier this month with a three-day event that saw 50 VMG employees come together. We celebrated our first of its kind Co-Working day in Atlanta and wrapped with our 2nd Juneteenth Community Walk. Our celebration reflected the sentiment of Juneteenth as we build our culture of a hybrid workforce empowered to bring about food security and health equity for our global and local communities.

VMG/ASAP co-working day: Nearly 50 of VMG/ASAP colleagues gathered in Atlanta coming from as far as the Bay Area in CA and Gran Marais, MN to work side by side with their teammates. From our newly minted employees of 1 week joining us to our VMG OG’s, we rolled up our sleeves as we took over a local co-workspace- collaborating- meeting- teaming.

Not every moment was focused on work; as we showed up repping our favorite sports team, city, sorority, and the nostalgic look of the ‘90s! We learned more about our colleagues with a fun game of getting acquainted BINGO to an actual handstand battle, and we can’t forget the fun, games, and sunset Skyline Park at the Ponce City market.

Food drive: VMG and Aunt Jackies Coils and Curls, bagged and donated over 150 bags of food to the Antioch AME Church food pantry in Stone Mountain, GA; additionally, we donated canned goods to the North Fulton Charities food pantry. These food pantries service our collective headquarters, addressing food insecurity in the Stone Mountain and Alpharetta/Roswell areas. Helping our clients and communities achieve health equity is a core value for VMG. Our donations to the food pantries helped to further our goal of providing food security in our communities.

Community Walk: We completed our time together with a focus on health. With over 50 colleagues, friends, and families we tackled the paths and trails of Stone Mountain Park as some even summiting to the top. What’s a good walk without some healthy competition? Encouraging all to get their steps in, many voluntarily tracked their steps taken between 10 am-3 pm on June 8th- with the winner clocking 20,000 steps.

Honoring Dr. Morris Kellam: We dedicated the walk to Dr. Cynthia Morris Kellam and her unwavering dedication and impactful contributions to the health equity field. In her honor, VMG is establishing a scholarship in her name to build on the strong foundation she laid to achieve the ultimate objective of health equity for all. We are thankful to Cynthia’s family for joining us for the walk.

Thank you, Aunt Jackie's Curls and Coils for co-sponsoring these events with us. Collectively, we share a vision of supporting our local communities and adopting healthy habits that we can embrace, step by step.

As VMG recognizes this Juneteenth Holiday, we are honored and thank our colleagues for investing their time and talent with us. We are empowered every day working collectively to build VMG’s impact together.
