I love this video because I'm starting to make cartoon animations on YouTube and my character design is very much based around a simple circle head. But I'm curious as to why you refer to it as a retro cartoon character. Why?

I'm completely new to drawing, but this seems like a decent starting point. However, I cannot draw symmetric shapes to save my life, so my heads always end up a bit wonky. It does seem like the lighter I draw, the easier it is to kind of "correct as I go", and although my retro character doesn't exactly look great, she still looks a lot better than a stick figure!

I need to find a book that is good for absolute and complete beginners. It looks like "Learn to Draw Cartoons: The World's Easiest Cartooning Book Ever!" might be a good choice. I can't get any *worse* at drawing, so at least there's that! Thanks!
