About to fly out on a trip and kind of rushed this out but I wanted to give my quick thoughts on CTR before I leave for the next week. I actually wished I had the Switch version because this would be perfect to play on a plane but I defiantly enjoyed what I played so far. What do you all think of this remaster? Crash Tag Team Racing was really good on the PS2. I loved running around the park gathering crystals just as much as racing. Kinda sad I didn't see anything like that here :/

Sewer sppedway is my favourite track in the game. It feels like a track completely built around the boost mechanics.

Also never played the original but I do really like this game. I’ve done a fair bit of a MARIO Kart 8 and so far I’m enjoying this game more in every way except frame rate.

It's refreshing to see someone that has no history with the original still enjoy the remake. Some of the reviews I've bumped into for the game so far claim that they have a history with the original, but still criticize it for being too difficult. That just comes off as contradicting, especially when I beat the game back then when I was a kid.

I think the trick jump is just the acceleration you get when landing, after jumping close to the ledge of a ramp.

"trick jump" is just getting enough air time for a jump. Timing it with even the tiniest ramps can get you boosts.

Pro-tip: there's a boost reserve system here where getting full slide boost bars continuously and then hitting a turbo pad would grant you an even longer turbo. You could potentially be on turbo the whole track if you pull this off well.

If I remember correctly you get a trick jump boost if you go high enough.
I think you are correct that you were doing it at the more obvious bigger jumps

However, there is an element you missed that serves as another skill check to the game.

Example: when you were on that map with the pipe that had a higher ledge on either side....
You could have "slide boosted" to increase your acceleration to allow you to go high enough on those ledges to receive a boost.

I would say at least half of the maps are intentionally littered with small ledges that allow for these accelerated jump boost moments to give you an edge over your competition.
This gave is really fun and competitive if between a few skilled players.

This is based on memory so forgive the awkward terminology :)

Don't get me wrong, 30fps in games like Last of Us, Witcher, hell even Bloodborne are completely fine, but I gotta need those magic 60 a in racer goddammit!
