Bun Bo Nam Bo | Vietnam Food | Vietnam Village Life
Today Ngat cooks up Bun Bo Nam Bo, a favourite dish for many Hanoians enjoying lunch in the capital city Hanoi. Follow along with Ngat as she makes this amazing beef salad from scratch and make your own at home.

Follow along with Ngat as she cooks up Vietnamese dishes from the front yard of her home in the Vietnamese countryside.

Hi, I am Simon and I am an expat from England living in a Vietnamese Village in northern Vietnam. I will be documenting my life in a Vietnamese Village, offering snippets of local daily life in Vietnam.

Living in Vietnam as an expat, I will show you what goes on during a working day or even a playful day. It could be cooking, eating, gardening, fishing, weddings, public holidays, traditional cultural celebrations, riding bicycles through other villages or even making everyday items such as brushes or bamboo items.

I will also document the whole season of rice farming from ploughing the fields to eating a bowl of rice on the table. Follow along with Simon as he explores Vietnam country life.

Wow talk about having skills. Nhat hit this one out the ball park. Super traditional. I wish we had smellavision. When I was a kid my mom had me do the exact same thing with the peanuts. Thanks Simon watching you channel reminds me of my childhood. 👍👍👍👍

Hey Simon

Inspired by Ngat’s demo, we decided to have a go. A few substitutions to say the least:

We don’t have a kumquat tree in our garden so went for orange juice, no oyster sauce so went for soy sauce, no shallots so spring onions instead, all out of peanuts but found a bag of cashews at the back of the cupboard, salad was a ‘past it’s date’ asda crunchy bag, didn’t have any bean sprouts so went without, Sriracha sauce instead of fresh chili but apart from that, pretty close 😂

So, if truth be told, a completely different meal but tasty nonetheless 😀 and defo inspired by your good wife!

Keep up the good work and stay safe.

I am going to give this a go . I can get the kumquats here at a little asian shop just like the ones you have . Thanks Nhat 😊

The beef looked really good even before Ngat cooked it. Also, as I watch a lot of Thai food related content on YouTube, it was interesting to see how the meal was eaten. Mixing everything together. Which is what I would do. Whereas in Thailand they favour taking a little bit of this and a little bit of that and dipping this and that in something and then starting all over again. SE Asian food certainly looks delicious when prepared by a good cook like Ngat. Stay safe guys.
