Trump won't say who he wants to win Ukraine war during CNN town hall

Former President Donald Trump speaks with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins about the war in Ukraine and how he would handle the conflict as president.

Donald Trump urged Republicans to force America into an unprecedented default if President Biden did not make huge spending cuts, during a wide-ranging town hall when he doubled down on hardline positions in a pitch for the party’s 2024 nomination.

Trump delighted his core supporters and outraged his CNN hosts by refusing to consider any new gun controls, celebrating the end of national access to abortion, insisting the 2020 election was rigged against him and pledging to pardon most of the rioters jailed for attacking the US Capitol.

He called E Jean Carroll, the woman he was found liable this week of sexually assaulting and defaming, a “wack job”; he summed up his plan to reduce inflation as “drill, baby, drill”; and when the host of the televised event pinned him down over retaining secret documents he called her a “nasty person”.

Foolish for him to say what she was pushing for - a true leader knows this. If media cared about people of Ukraine, WHY were they silent when over 14k died during coup in 2014-15? Inconvenient truth?

Putin isn’t stupid and Russia isn’t some weak, third world country. They have the capacity to wage a 21st century war. A US President or presidential candidate declaring a side in a conflict that otherwise doesn’t invoke this country would rightly be seen as a threat of force and a preemptive declaration of war. By saying “I want Ukraine to win and Russia to suck it” would rightly inject heated hostility into the relationship between our two countries. All of which will domino into Russia feeling the need to ally with friendly powers like China and feeling confident enough in that alliance to take on a more aggressive posture.

This is the impact the international policy, relations, and Geo-politics can. People don’t understand what’s at stake here. The Ukraine war isn’t a game where you pick your favorite team. It has international ramifications and the capacity to flash point into another global conflict.

THAT is why Trump didn’t say “yeah, go Ukraine!” — Because the US vocally threatening Russia while funding their enemies would only incite Russia to justifiable action to get the upper hand rather than wait for the apparently inevitable sucker punch from the US.

These idiot politicians, ideologues, and journalists have no idea what they’re doing when they try to goad leaders into making threats against foreign powers. They live in a bubble where they cannot comprehend a global conflict because they have been detached from the real world of virtually no opposition in so long. — Trump, like a real leader, is working to DE-ESCALATE the conflict in a fashion will allow our nation to maintain good or at least decent relationships with both Ukraine and Russia. These people trying to make Trump a villain have no idea just how short-sighted and foolish they are being when they effectively do everything they can to usher in world war 3.
