Suzuki have brought out a new version of the Swift, the old one was great, have they messed with the recipe and is the new one still as much fun?

Very pleased that Suzuki are still making a Swift when so many superminis have recently departed. I have a previous gen Swift and find it an absolute joy to drive and live with every day.

With most cars I find SMILES per hour is FAR more important than MILES per hour

I had one of these as a courtesy car recently, whilst our Suzuki Ignis was in for a service. It was only the basic 'Motion' spec, but I couldn't believe how much spec it had, how nice it was to drive and how much more refined Swifts had become. I'd definitely recommend one.

The interesting thing about Suzuki is the way they slowly crept into the uk market. Everyone has heard of the Suzuki motorcycles but not many automatically thank Suzuki cars yet they are bloody good and they have built a growing loyal, following over the years

I am also a Suzuki fan, but just as (and as I commented back then as well) with your last Swift mild hybrid review (I think it was, at least) I am unconvinced the hybrid system does all that much above single digit mph speeds except satisfy legislators.

2.3kw added power really is "literally nothing". On the flip side, 7kg added weight is even less, so all in all I would rather have it, than go without. But as mild hybrids go, it really is as "mild" as drinking a stiff glass of demineralized, room temperature water.

Enthusiastic marketing aside, it really seems like a very nice and sensible car that probably wont put its name to shame.

I'm always impressed with how far Suzuki has come over the years. They still make some good "first cars", and I'm glad to see they still make a manual version although where i live the majority of them are automatic.

Daughters got a 66 plate which I think is the best looking mark. Great little car for twisty B roads and it's economical.

Can't say I'm in love with the new look. Still, I'm glad Suzuki keeps offering a 4x4 version which is extremely rare for a supermini

I'm just happy to see a good ol 5 speed manual. And the new face is so cute! I'm sold but Suzuki under GM was mad not to bring it to USA and instead we got unreliable Daewoos that killed their rep.

Excellent review and I'm considering one of these to replace my ageing Honda Jazz, frankly I'd buy another Jazz like a shot but not at @£27k! The Swift is much more sensibly priced, wish it had a little more pep though.

Always been a huge fan of Suzuki as a brand. Our other family car is a 2019 Ignis 1.2 5 Speed and it's such a funky little thing, amazing to drive and does an easy 55+ mpg and that's around town! Such an underrated brand. And I love the bright colours in the interior - most cars are incredibly depressing and all black. All these monitors and limiters are so bloody annoying and I hate them. Great video Matt

I'll stick with my 2010 Honda CR-Z mild hybrid. Another car that has lots of smiles per mile, but is very economical to run. The legendary car designer Frank Stephenson rated the CR-Z as a future design classic.

I almost bought one in about 1994. It was the Swift GTi. Great little car, drove like an Austin mini without the reliability issues. Don't know why I didn't buy it as it would have been a great choice for me at that stage. Dependable, fun, economical to run. I considered a Swift again in 2017 but ended up with a Vitara - I wanted the extra space and the 1.2 4-cylinder engine fitted to the Allgrip swifts wasn't very nice. Now I don't really need the extra space very often I would consider one of these.

By far one of the best looking modern cars I’ve seen on the road so far 👍 tempted to get one and break my strict rule of not owning a car newer than 2007

As you were talking about the speed I had an advert for 1984 on audible

I love Swifts. I've had a 2008 since new, 1.5 automatic. By far and away the least economical of the regular Swifts, I still routinely see 45-50 MPG in mixed driving. It's done well over 100, 000 miles and is beginning to get a little elderly for my liking, so looking forward to upgrading to a new one sometime soon!

5 speed set up well is ideal for a smaller car. Hopefully they'll do well with these, and bring the 4x4 version out soon.

Our R56 S is in 5th gear at 32mph/6th at 42mph. All it's achieving is to wear out the clutch slightly faster. The V70s are more normally geared with 6th being very much cruising only.

I predicted that the following video after older producer's Swift's is going to be a newer model
