everyone wants to go to berlin. i don't. i've lived there and i'm glad i moved away. the reason may sound simple but i think, the way people treat their surrounding is also how they treat everything in life. berliners might not agree but this is just my perspective.

Thank you for sharing your opinion through this video! I enjoyed it a lot. Especially I liked the part that it was decided to use subtitles instead of voicing the thoughts.

Personally, your description of Berlin reminded me about the city I live in - St. Petersburg, Russia. Here, we also don't care a lot about cleanliness: we have a lot of trash on the main streets and graffiti over historically important buildings. But the funny part is that I find it appealing and it's one of the main reason I enjoy the city so much when people aren't occupied with nice facade and look at the pith instead.

It's sad that someone finds unbearable to live in places where people are more individualistic and have habits of littering everywhere. I've never known this may be uncomfortable for others so much. You opened my mind about the issue. I'm going to reconsider my habits about taking care of my trash. Hope, you enjoy your new place a lot.

British person her and I couldn't get over just how abrasive and unfriendly people were there.

I think its may be cultural as in UK, we smile at one another, greet one another, move aside to let someone past or hold a door open for someone. In Berlin you are made to feel unwelcome and an inconvenience, also the grey and lack of colour other then in graffiti has to play a part in setting a grim atmosphere. Great place if you have a drinking problem and a love for turkish food though.

agreed, after 15 years of living here, i can only say that the city under kai wagner's "leadership" has hit rock bottom, trash everywhere like flying trash actually hitting you. its a disgrace im ashamed when someone visits me.

Good you left this city. I am happy for you.
Really, I regret that I came here to study and not to a functioning German city.
And you're right, people are the reason why it sucks. Hope to leave asap

So they have time to protest reform parties, but not time to pick up a few bits of rubbish?

For some stupid reason, I decided to leave Sydney to live life in Germany and Berlin was it because it was the only place I could find an English speaking job. After initially not noticing it, I do notice it a lot now. Berlin is just a sh*thole city, sorry to say, with rubbish everywhere, homeless issues in public and on public transport, grafiti everywhere, almost every corner smelling of piss and sometimes now even human poo! Plus people smoking without any regard of the people around them and them just throwing their butts everywhere! I've asked some locals how they feel about Berlin and most of them say they like the grunginess of Berlin. It's astounding to me. Anyways like you, I've already plans to go back to Sydney and I definitely will not be missing Berlin when I leave, nor would recommend it to anyone, not even for a holiday.

I was yelled at when unknowingly walked on the bike only lane, "rüberziehen. Du. Reisfresser!!!" lol hey but Berlin has so many good Korean bistros. I enjoyed their quality food there. Especially Eastern Berlin area. Miss the Sony Center and a high school gym sized Berlin phiharmoniker concert hall. :)
