Full Colour Decals in 60 ish seconds (Still Works in 2025!)

**MAKE SURE YOU 100% FOLLOW THE STEPS, IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU SKIP ANYTHING, THIS INCLUDES CLOSING TF2 AND HAVING THE EXACT SAME FILE NAMES & FORMAT. THIS DOES STILL WORK, IF YOU CANNOT DO IT, YOU'RE MISSING A STEP.**

PLEASE NOTE: This tutorial only works for the Conscientous Objector! For the other decalable items, replace the filename paper_overlay.png with:
flair: flair_template_guide.png
clan pride: Clan_Pride_Overlay.png
photo badge: Photo_Badge_Overlay.png

also make sure u look at the properties of the picture u have used to make sure its pixels are 128 by 128 pixels.

I did everything PERFECTLY multiple times and it still won't work.

Don't forget to change your file name to "paper_overlay" guys.

Works like a charm, even in 2021.
To anyone reading this feeling like you're in the Twilight Zone with the overwhelming positive feedback, don't be scared, just follow this almost to a T.

Make sure it's a PNG.
Make sure you create all the folders as needed.
Make sure you name it "paper_overlay", however. Adding the ".png" does not work for some people.
Also make sure TF2 is CLOSED during all of this.

the thing that makes this more helpful than all the other tutorials i watched is that you specified that tf2 has to be closed while creating the files, which nobody else mentioned

hes right it still works, i was beginning to lose hope when it wasnt working, until i checked the folder names. a word of advice if yours isnt working, check to see if you spelled everything correctly, i accidentally typed "item" rather than "items"

I'd like to say that this also works if you want to put your image on the item FLAIR! but you have to name your photo '"flair_template_guide"
Same directory but the name changes. To get it as full colored you will also have to use the in game color modificator (the left arrow) and there you go! full colored flair!
