The NASA Inspector General issued a report on Commercial Crew and specifically the high cost of Boeing's offerings. The aerospace company is none too pleased with the Inspector General and we have a rundown of what happened.

There are a series of complicated spacewalks, we have a NICER observation of the sky and of source Space traffic and weather

SpaceX’s goal is to lower the price of space flight

Boeing’s goal is to increase profits for share holders

That’s my opinion on the difference in prices per seat

It's not just Boeing, i'm seeing issues in many US companies.
There's a lack of respect for competence.

Crew Dragon will also fly cargo so Boeings point is completely mute. SpaceX crew Dragon can also fly unpressurised external cargo in the trunk. Starliner can not do that at all.

There was a time Boeing was good at stuff. First the 737MAX debacle and now this... Clearly all the engineering money is going to

*Boeing custom machines a ball peen hammer from the finest ingot costing $20, 000* Boeing: What? its a hammer? Government: "Seems legit" *Space X walks by with a launch certified Snap On hammer and a $250 price tag*

Government: ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノ

Feels like space news is the right length (10-20 min) has great recurring segments (launch schedule, space weather) and a juicy story that transcends astronomy and blends into politics, business and corporate/gov ties. Also, now with starlink probably here to stay, you could add regular segments related to space debris and light pollution (i.e a kessler syndrome index, satellite interference index). Just some random suggestions.

Keep it up guys!

So what if Boeing would not agree to make Starliner? Why do we even need Boeing at this point, beyond wasting money?

Thank you for the news! Nice job Jared, I use your news service to keep up with who is launching what into space as well as general developments in space and I really look forward to these reports. Thank you again to the whole team at TMRO!

“Global access to the internet is a fundamental right.” There can be no such thing as a right to the goods and services of others. If you want something, you must pay for it.

Did that November 17th Kuaizhou-1A launch show the RCS thrusters firing during liftoff? Surely they have thrust vectoring on the main engine... does this indicate control issues? Curious...

The cost of space telescopes? Let's see, at $3M less change for a 100 ton suborbital delivery on Starship, if we chartered two cargos and a crewed starship for a month to L2 to deliver and assemble a 100+ ton telescope, plus upgrade and repair anything else out there that needs it, could we do that for less than a billion? Six million dollars a day to compensate for lost revenue on the three chartered Starships is still less than $200M, plus a dozen or so refuelling and staging flights is still less than a quarter of a billion. That's a lot left for payroll.

How much could we have saved on the James Webb telescope if we could have engineered it for site assembly/assisted deployment and the availability of a bi-annual repair and upgrade service?

I think arguing the per-seat flight cost is higher because of more complex development when development costs have already been subtracted is grasping for straws.
