Let’s not forget that in order to make these shots, the pilot has to be rock steady as well. Team work makes the dream work. Ooh Rah!

I'm proud to say that my father was one of those first Marine scout-snipers on Saipan. He was a member of the 6th Marines Scout-Sniper Platoon. Also known as Tachovsky's Forty Thieves. Read the book about them "40 Thieves on Saipan" by Joseph Tachovsky (the son of the platoon leader). There is also a PBS documentary based on the book you can find on YouTube. They actually did more scouting than sniping, partly because the scopes on their sniper rifles fogged up terribly in the weather on Saipan and Tinian. They used Unertel scopes on Springfield '03 rifles.

As soon as they begin describing the Leupold scope, they begin showing a nightforce!

This is an example of the new scope system the army is adopting. You can get one for private use I think for 24, 000 or more. One feature I have seen for private use is you can lock on to a target, pull and hold the trigger, and the weapon will fire when the rifle is pointed such that a hit will be made. WOW!

The F35 looks so cool - how well do you think it would handel in a dog fight?

"White Feather" certainly is not a complimentary military nickname.

Nice reference to Carlos Hathcock. Arguably the greatest sniper ever. Read a book about him and you'll realize just about every movie with a sniper is based on things he did.

Oddly enough, I've been told it's easier to train helicopter crew to be a rotary wing marksman than to train a sniper to operate as one. I think it's the same for those shooting from a ship, you've already adapted to the ship's movements and can maintain a stable platform naturally.

8:05 "So just pretend to be working?" Constantly turning a plug for 15 seconds that requires a quarter turn to remove. HAHA

Back in the early 90's I saw a competition between various branches and one police dept take a shot at this as a challenge, and the L.A. PD (I believe) fared the best at sticking these shots with a high level of accuracy
