Final Fantasy XI: To The Beginning (Fan Film)

The Plot:

"A Journey that will become a Quest of Self-Discovery."

Curiosity Kills the Mithra, or in Kara's case sends her 21 years back in time. A time when Adventurers were on the rise and familiar faces began their journey.

However, something's not right. When she meets Dave she begins to notice the timeline is out of order and feels with Dave's help it is up to them to put it right.

But across Vana-diel as a Linkshell is formed someone is manipulating the timeline and events are happening in the wrong order, things have started to happen two years early. Dave's failed his training into the military and so missed his first encounter with a friend, (that would have set his path in motion). Therefore, with Kara forges a friendship they will never forget, and set of on a journey to do something right.

But they are not alone, on their journey, as they encounter enemies and friends alike that will forge their destinies. As Dave encounters his future., Kara will discover the past as they go Back to the Beginning...

Behind the Scene Notes:

Development:
This is a movie I can up with back in 2008 (after making another called 'The Enemy Within), and finally with a bit more experience and new ideas, I decided to revisit this story. Most of my notes had been thrown away, but with everything I remember I started to expand and develop the story further.

Corrections After Upload:
I have made some corrections in this movie that do not appear in the upload version. Most of them are in the credits. So credit also goes to Alw that would appear under Kibi in the end credits(The Elvaan with pair with Tatooa).

Related Movie:
I have posted a previous movie, which contained my original ideas. Most of which did not make it into this feature length version.

Experimenting:
I have also been trying new ways such as using model viewer for most the animations, so some parts (especially a fight scene) are out of sync. Where as others are executed quite well. This is why there is not a great deal of action, as I am still learning.

Ambitions:
Originally this was going to be a much shorter movie, where I was going to slap a few motion and still scenes together, to show what my story was going to be about. I went further than that and carried on.

Players:
Also the movie is a great nostager experience for any ex-players. Especially those who use to play on the Caitsith Server. (Now the Ragnarok Server). As I have made room for as many player cameos as I can fit. Some I knew well, others I did not.

Where next?:
Editing with PowerDirector 9 (PD9), the more of this movie I did, the more I learned and the better I have got at using it. Making this movie, I have learned a lot about using PD9 and the improvements I can make if I ever make anymore Fan FIlms on this scale.

Character Notes

Kara
Half Hume/Mithra
Age 17
Kara is a rare breed on Half Hume and Mithra. Her Mother being the Mithra and Dad the Hume. Unfortunately her dad was killed in action before she was born. Her Mithra side gives her better senses than normal Hume's. Giving her better sight, hearing, touch, speed, sound and flexibility. However, as a result, she has no taste buds. And as someone new to adventuring she prefers situations where she is in charge.

Dave
Hume
Age 17
Working in and around Bastok to earn his Gil, the filed Tunic and a Bronze Sword is his Armour. While happy to sick to the easy life, some think he is capable of more than he wants to do. He did enlist in the Bastok Military training Program, but failed on both entry exams. Nevertheless, he was involved in an accident and came out with no broken bones and got the interest of Cid. Which to him meant more paychecks, until he met Kara...

Hume
Age: Younger than he likes people to think
He is a man with not so much of a past, but one he is ashamed of, that he would like to stay away from as much as possible. A man with a love for Mithra girls who likes to lead, to bring people together and dreams of a safer future where all are equal as well.
