sir, do we have 2 methods for geometric distribution?

using q^y*p y=0, 1, 2...
we get q/p as the mean and q/p² as the variance

but using q^x-1 *p x=1, 2, 3, ...
we get 1/p as the mean and q/p² as the variance.

which of it is correct?
