"A Sound of Thunder" is definitely a personal favorite of mine, not just for the time travel and sci-fi elements but for Bradbury's typically top-notch prose. A great story from one of the all-time greats.

I couldn’t resist it - I haven’t had time to finish my 2nd time travel one, and I still had to watch. Your videos are so brilliant. This is a great list. Bradbury’s Sound of Thunder and Ted Chiang’s Merchant and the Alchemist were the only ones that crosses over to mine. This video is filled with tons of suggestions! So many great stories you’ve found. I can see the amount of work you put in there. Can’t wait to see the others. I’m going to add these stories to my TBR.

Great recommendations! Time Patrol by Anderson was an enthralling read. "All you zombies" is a great mind-twister. "A Sound of Thunder" is immortal classic. Definitely going to read Bradbury and Phillip K. Dick recommendations. And others if I happen to travel back in time to get more time =).
Of not mentioned and recently read by me, 4 short stories I can recommend:
Two tragic stories: "My Object All Sublime" by Poul Anderson and "Captive Market" by Philip K. Dick.
Also Jack Finney wasn't mentioned and it was his thing to work out different time travel ideas (his novel "Time and Again" is a great example). Two short stories of his: "Such Interesting Neighbors" and a satirical one "The Face in the Photo".

The Stanislaw Lem short story mentioned at 13:35 is an absolute hoot. Very short in length but truly a comic masterpiece! "Star Diaries" is one of my most favorite paperbacks ever. Highly recommended!

"The Red Queen's Race" by Isaac Asimov... answers the question: What would happen in today's world if someone sent a particular object back in time, say, to the times of the Greeks? Great fun!!!

Then there's the Simpson's spoof of the Bradbury book where Homer attempts to return to his reality by stomping on various insects in the distant past. Each time he returns to some horrendous alien version of his family, until the last time when all looks normal. Until Marge extends a butterfly-like proboscis to eat breakfast, at which point Homer declares, "Close enough" and the episode ends.

Wonderful recommendations video! I didn’t realize there were that many time travel short stories from so many well known sci-fi authors! So excited it’s Time Travel Week!

I listened to the Ted Chiang one in the spring. I like it. I’ll have to check some of the others. I must have read some of them decades ago so time (ha) to see if rereading will bring back memories.

Nice list, lots to read! Btw, L. Sprague de Camp also had a dinosaur time travel short story, called "A Gun for Dinosaur". It was released 4 years after Bradbury's (1956 vs 1952). A bit campy, but I like it. ;-)
Movie producers could throw both of them together, with lots of CGI and make a blockbuster out of it.
You can read "A Gun for Dinosaur" on Galaxy March 1956, easily available via search. I would have posted a link, but YT removes posts with links in it.

I could not remember the title of Heinlein's By His Bootstraps. I knew I read it and that was my first time travel story I liked but searching for the vague memory never turned up anything. You know, you've not only helped me remember this, but also the Greg Egan novel Quarantine in a previous vid. What would I do without you Michael. Thank you.

These sound like fun time travel stories. Thank you for the recommendations. Coincidentally, I was just making a sandwich and making my food fit 2 bread. LOL. Ok, I'll see myself out now...

🙂 my pick for recent time travel (novella) is 'One Day All This Will Be Yours' by Tchaikovsky a sort of 'comedy-ish, could be called 'reasons To Lose The Time War' if you know that story?
