Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays...
The race to the ISS is gearing up for its most exhilarating chapter yet, with the entry of numerous new contenders. Among these, Dream Chaser is garnering significant attention as it prepares to make its debut in the near future. While delays have pushed back timelines, they serve as indicators of the groundbreaking transformations this space plane could bring to the aerospace industry. How are preparations for the Dream Chaser advancing? What impact will this mission have on the space industry? Can it outpace the formidable SpaceX Dragon, the reigning giant? Stay tuned as we delve into these questions on today's episode of Great SpaceX.
Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays...
It's been over a decade since the iconic Space Shuttle bid farewell to its missions in space. Dream Chaser, boasting a similar space plane design, is poised to step into the shoes of the Space Shuttle for future space endeavors. Despite facing numerous delays over the years, the prospect of witnessing Dream Chaser take flight is now closer than ever. Sierra Space unveiled its first complete prototype, named Tenacity, towards the end of 2023. Following this unveiling, the prototype was transported to NASA's test center in Ohio to undergo environmental testing.
Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays... Initially scheduled for launch in April as part of the second flight of ULA's Vulcan Centaur, the launch has since been pushed back to the fourth quarter of this year.
Despite the delays in launch schedules, testing endeavors for Dream Chaser continue to advance smoothly. Earlier this year, Dream Chaser, accompanied by the Shooting Star module, underwent vibration testing on the world's largest vibration table. This critical test, one of the largest conducted on this space plane, evaluates its resilience against extreme vibrations during encapsulation within the Vulcan Centaur's fairing and throughout the launch process. On March 7, Sierra Space reported the successful completion of this test, along with other pivotal assessments such as the separation shock test and wing deployment evaluation.

To be resolved, thank you.

AGAIN IT REPEATEDLY HAPPENED! Your title for this video is; "Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays" The new spaceplane is NOT LAUNCHING as YOU NOTE stating: " Initially scheduled for launch in April as part of the second flight of ULA's Vulcan Centaur, the launch has since been pushed back to the fourth quarter of this year."
"Finally Happened! Finally Happened! Finally Happened!" ... GONZO FAKE NEWS HEADLINES = CRAPPY JOURNALISM 👎

50 plus years after Apollo….still struggling just to get into LOW orbit!!
We’ll get to Mars by 2400…when Buck Roger’s take us there.

My money is on Dreamchaser, looks the most viable addition to Crew Dragon, Orion and Starliner are problematic in many ways so far along in their development, over budget and lots of issues
Hopefully they get it figured out, competition is good if the crafts are actually competitive in reality

Our tax dollars are never better spent than with these space projects. Space is our future and Americans should be proud of our leading role in this field. It sure beats the crap out of the untold dollars and human lives spent on war. Although a necessary evil, I hope some day it will be obsolete.

Until Dreamchaser has a proven ability to get to space on a reusable first stage, SpaceX will continue to be the low-cost leader.

Good morning ! Living here Alabama I have watched the news in reference to the Dream Chaser and the way I understand it Dream Chaser has been licensed to land at the Huntsville International Airport. If this is the case would Marshall Space Flight Center be the organization to handle the preparation for its return to Florida.?
Thanks

The Space Shuttle was also supposed to offer rapid and low cost turn round due to its aircraft like landing. Hopefully, Sierra Space have a better handle on that and the heat shield tiles function better and require less refurb. At least Dreamchaser is on top of the launch vehicle, not next to major components during launch.

If memory serves, the original design of the dream chaser was for carrying humans to and from space hence the shape of the craft…

I hope all of these are successful as the introduce competition in the industry so Elon Musk can’t hold the world at ransom to his whims.

Getting two BE-4 engines to actually work doesn’t mean it is reliable yet. This is the first time I heard about a vibration problem.

Much better than Starliner (updated Apollo), could they help Starship with tiles or much bigger tiles are harder to work with?

It's not NASA's space plane it's "Sierra Space's" space plane!

Good for an opinion, would make an awesome escape capsule. Starship will be the work horse tho.

Good Morning, Kev. I want to see Dreamchaser succeed. I want to Sierra Space succeed. It's a beautiful plane. So I would launch it on a Falcon Heavy. You're more confident in ULA than I am. I don't look at Dreamchaser as being in competition with SpaceX. It's another great tool to have in your arsenal. I don't think we should should look at it like competition. Both will have the same missions. But both will have different missions. That's a good thing. Great Episode Kev.

I hope it's successful. Then again by the time it flys it may be fusion powered...
