Using a climber today. I think I’ll oil the tree on my way up for maximum stealthy ninja-like access. Wish me luck!

Hey thanks for the video! Very good video in terms of what I believe many people take for granted…that deer are easy to kill, easy to find, and it’s all luck.
I know hunters that drive their side x side, four wheelers etc to their stands, and claim it don’t bother deer…
One of the key things here is odd or strange noises in the woods…deer pick up on that quick.
About ten days ago, hunting in IL, I had a nice buck coming in…when I grabbed my bow It made a sound, and that buck stopped in his tracks, both ears moving in all directions, head moving and eyes moving… he knew it was different, but couldn’t find me…until I drew back….he gone!
I caught up to him a week later during gun season…
Thanks again for the video!

I dig the old sandcast lonewolf. Thats my day to day stand as well. I love it. Good to see its not gettin cut up for a makeshift saddle platform

Everything that jim is saying is true, this technique is aonly good for private property, where you can control your surroundings. This wouldn't work out in public land. But always good information.

If you are getting dropped off in any type of vehicle, just access your stand with the vehicle idling….

All fine n dandy until you hunt 1.5 miles deep. You’d be going in at 10pm to hunt daylight. This is a common sense tip when you would hunt a field edge but no way is this feasible for us public land guys

I’m sure this is extremely over the top, for where most of us hunt. Spending 20 minutes in sight is not ideal either. Get in and get quiet. The tree I was in yesterday, 50 minutes from the truck. You’re in there zone, get in and up! Had a doe & fawn 15 minutes after I sat. He’d be at the base of tree

Details matter, in addition to noise you need to enter with the wind NOT blowing towards where the deer are located or its game over. Your stand location can be perfect for that spot but a bad wind access route will kill stand activity. I hunted once with Jim he is all about the details.

Another reason the south is hard.
"Light and variable" is pretty much 95% of wind conditions...

That’s very hard to do in the north east when the snow gets iced over and everything is crunchy and loud when your foot breaks through
A lot easier in softer powder

What’s his hands free grunt call called? I’d like one of those.
