First off, Sweet were a fabulous band, full of talent and deserve way more recognition today. This song is closer to their hearts than most of their hit singles, you can probably tell they were a natural hard rock band, but they pumped out a lot of commercial stuff to keep the record producers off their backs. Not to be denied, they would put a hard rock track on the B side of their hit singles.

Brian Connolly was a great front man, although his life was sadly marred by tragedy; abandoned as a baby by his teen mum in Glasgow and dumped at the hospital, he was later adopted. Alcohol later took its toll on him and he died way too young at 51. Although this was at his peak, he had got into a fight outside a bar in that same year of 1974 which ended with him being set upon by a gang of thugs who kicked him in the throat, damaging his voice.

From this line up, sadly only Andy Scott survives today. But they are part of music history and IMO deserve a place in the R &R Hall of Fame.

Oh, and about those risqué lyrics… you have to remember that this was the 1970s. A lot of what was acceptable back then is no longer acceptable, just like a lot that is acceptable today will be unacceptable 50 years from now. It is just of its time.

Sweet ~ Love is like Oxygen...that is also a good one. They have a special essence about them. Wonderful, yet underrated. Their music is catchy & well done. All of the band members were very talented. Excellent!

Fox was slang for a good looking person. I believe this song is about a groupie who was cool at first, then after she started talking about the other "second hand" bands she was with, it changed the way they saw her, not as good as before.
Their harder stuff is really good too. Try "No You Don't"and "Action". Another fun one is Blockbuster, a song about trying to block a guy named Buster. Thanks for getting to this underrated band that influenced a lot of other bands, including Queen. You can really tell by the way the sing their harmonies.

Thank you so much - my all time favourite non Australian song. Sweet are one of the most under rated bands of all time - had 13 hits, sold over 55 million records and are yet to get the recognition they deserve. Formed in 1968 and are on their final world tour at the moment - have just released a really cool album. Sadly there is only one remaining member from the classic line up still alive. Seriously worth going down the rabbit hole to check them out some more.
