Putting chlorine tablets in the skimmer is a fairly common trend among pool owners. But while it might seem like a harmless, convenient way to keep your pool sanitized, you can actually do more harm than good. Here's why...

While some cal-hypo tablets are specifically designed to go in your pool skimmer, most chlorine tablets are not. Trichlor tablets, the most common type of chlorine tablet, can cause all sorts of harm to your skimmer and plumbing system if used in the skimmer.

Using an automatic chlorinator or floating chlorinator is the safest and most effective way to keep your pool water sanitized.
