Hey Candi! Similar story. When I went to LV with my friend to purchase the Rose Trianon and cream Metis, I was using her CA instead of mine. Her CA got mad when I pointed out tiny rips in the leather. She acted like that was the only one, but then the manager overheard and brought out another one. That one was perfect so I purchased it. Crazy!

I agree. If it happens with a non luxury item there’s a discounted price for the damages. But with luxury why would you want a defected bag with your brand out there.

It’s outrageous that they knowingly resold a faulty bag. An extremely expensive defective bag at that. Where does it end? Prices go up while quality and service go down. 👎🏼

Candi this story is just unbelievable that they would do this.
Some people maybe get a special Luxury bag maybe once or twice in a lifetime and to have this happen is just the worst!!!
You are such a good and one honest person Candi and I am thankful you shared this story!!!

I have LV bags ranging from the 80s until 2015. I can see the decrease in quality over time just by looking at my bags. The bags from the 80s were IMMACULATELY made. Even people who aren’t into high end goods can tell it is crazy well made. I quit buying new LV after my 2015 purchase. I can’t justify that price for bags that have decreased in quality that much.

Candi, Thank you for this video. I was shown a bag that was supposed to be new but it was clearly a used bag with faults and the flagship mid Atlantic region USA LV store didn’t apologize or blink an eye when I rejected it. I buy vintage now.

It happened to me too, I returned my Odeon Tote PM when I initially purchased it and they gave me the same bag with the same defect and they pretended that it was normal. I was shocked. And then they finally gave me another one with a different defect but not as bad as the other one, which is the bag tag and thank goodness that it was replaced. But I was still disappointed and frustrated because I had to go back there times. I haven’t returned to that boutique and I am not planning ever. 😃Thank you for sharing.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. If it were me and I knew for sure that it was my defected bag I would have told the lady looking at it that you just returned it and why. I definitely would shop elsewhere too.

I bought the pochette Métis east west n the bicolor monogram. I looked it over very carefully before I paid for it. The sa took it to the back to box it up etc. Went back to our hotel and I almost left it until we got home in the box. Then I decided to go ahead and look at it. This bag was OBVIOUSLY used and returned. The leather tab above the clasp was worn in each side and there was a small piece of crumpled paper in one of the pockets!! I couldn’t believe that they tried to pawn it off on me! I was so pissed. I immediately contacted to sa to return it. He told me the wear on the leather was just glue that he could get off. As if!!! If I’m buying a $3, 000 plus bag it better not be used and it better be perfect!! I’m going to Paris in a few months and I sure hope I have a better experience there. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

You know what Candi this incident you witnessed now verifies for me that the SA’s, managers, manufactures in the warehouse do not inspect these bags. That’s why we get popped stitches, crooked pockets, dents in bags etc. they don’t care. They only care about making the sell. There is 100% no way in the world your original bag should have made it out of the warehouse period! When they make these bags why aren’t they looking them over to ensure no defects. Like you said these are luxury bags that cost a lot of money. I’m not paying $3000 for a defective bag. That’s bull. This is why I’ve opted to purchase more preloved. Thanks for sharing this story!!

Good for exposing this and educating us on what to look for when buying these bags. I hope you reported this to LV up the management lines. This is a management setting the tone of the boutique issue. Would be interesting to see their repsponse on a wider basis. Takes your time, but maybe things can change with making them aware.

Thank you Candi, for speaking out about this. I'm sadly not surprised that items with known defects are resold and that LV doesn't give two about doing so, as you so rightly said.

I had such a terrible experience with the LV brand this summer, (defects in the same bag over and over, zero quality control, horrible 'customer service') where I attempted to purchase the same Speedy BTP edition bag 4 times!!!! (broken zippers being the most prominent issue) that I may be done with the brand completely. The quality issues are inexcusable and how I was treated is another story in itself. My loyalty to the brand and multiple attempts to purchase the same bag in good enough condition to keep (again having to do that for a luxury item is ridiculous!) meant absolutely nothing to LV.

I shared my feelings of disappointment and consideration of walking away from the brand completely with various LV managers and they did not care. I've been told from a former SA that LV customers shouldn't think they'll be treated any differently purchasing luxury products than mainstream products. Wow. I suppose some are even under the impression that they can sell us damaged items.

I wrote detailed emails to LV Client Services, attempting to alert them to what seems to be a known issue with the zippers on this particular (and a few other special edition as well) Speedy bag.
My proactive attempts didn't seem to matter. Quality control doesn't seem to exist or to be a priority. I wouldn't be surprised at all if those bags I received were prior returns and will continue to circulate after I've returned them.

I loved the colorway of this particular BTP collection so much that I considered purchasing it in a different style bag. I haven't been able to go through with it though, and actually cancelled an order after being treated so poorly and discovering that known quality issues are not being addressed.

We shouldn't have to feel like we're rolling the dice or taking a risk when we make such a purchase from a luxury brand. The point of luxury is enjoyment and an experience of quality.

Thanks for sharing this, it feels like new shoppers usually get stuck with bad bags because they don’t know about these things yet so these videos are so important. I got stuck with a few bad bags when I started shopping that’s for sure😩
