After the election: Continue the Corbyn revolution

Alan Woods - editor of In Defence of Marxism - analyses last week's UK election results, explaining the real reasons behind Labour's dramatic defeat.

In doing so, Alan answers the lies of the establishment media and the Blairites, who have falsely attempted to place all the blame for Labour's election on loss on Jeremy Corbyn.

In reality, however, it is not Corbynism that has failed, but Blairism, liberalism, and the centre ground. The areas that have abandoned Labour are those that have been left behind by capitalism; those that voted Leave as a rejected of the broken status quo.

It is vital to learn the lessons of this election defeat. But Labour activists must now regroup to kick the right-wingers and careerists out of the PLP, to fight Boris Johnson and the Tories, and to continue the struggle for socialism.

The labour party has eschewed itself from class based activism and has groped at ambigious 'movementist iterations' to maintain relevancy. Corbyn tried but he cannot undo decades of supine labour centrism that has created the conditions for the party's implosion. They should never have equivocated over Brexit, Corbyn should have never ceded the Brexit question to the Blairites. It is more than bankers and capitalists, it is the British peoples' feeling utterly betrayed by Labour's inability to present to them a coherent and consistent narrative on Brexit.

Our local taxi company is ripping off customers. I suggest labour nationalise private hire taxis too when it comes to power in 15-20 years time.

Isn't it an advancement for the workers in UK if UK leaves EU? EU is an added layer of oppressive regulations and management. The workers in the UK are better able to resist and overcome the UK capitalists rule without EU interference.

The problem is you can’t spend trillions and then tax every business out of the country. These politicians forgot money isn’t for free...

Excuses, excuses the British people do not want your left wing politics . Your excuses and arguments fall on deaf ears. Why don’t you listen to what the electorate want . If you don’t you will be in opposition for many years to come keep it up

Unsure what planet this guy and his ilk live on. Bottom line: Momentum handed Johnson the keys to Number 10.

Is this a joke; some sort of British self deprecating absurdist humour?
