A G20 guest magazine has termed ‘Bharat’ as the “official name” of the country amid the ‘India vs Bharat’ row. “Bharat is the official name of the country. It is mentioned in the Constitution as also in the discussions of 1946-48,” 2nd page of the G20 magazine read. This comes after ‘Bharat’ replaced ‘India’ in the nameplate of PM Modi at G20 Summit in Delhi.

The constitution says otherwise! Bharat and India are both official names. But, the government is free to choose one but cannot deny anyone the right to use either! I like them both - but Bharat shows the ancient roots of India!
