14-year-old boy shot in St. Petersburg

A 14-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon in St. Petersburg, according to the police department.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. on 44th Street South near 20th Avenue South in the city's Childs Park neighborhood.

A police department spokesperson said the teen was with at least one other friend when another group opened fire. The 14-year-old was shot in an alleyway and sought help at a nearby house.
