I happened to find a 2011 MacBook Pro a couple of years ago. It was donated to my disability organization with some Windows laptops, and they were going to tear them apart to explore how they worked. I looked upon them, and thought, maybe I can restore it to its former glory. I took it, and opened it up. Thankfully it was one of those models you can modify easily. I checked it out, and all it needed was a new battery and hard drive. The logic board was a bit dusty, but still intact.

I went ahead and purchased a new battery and hard drive, and it worked well. I then discovered it had an i5 processor, when I previous thought it had a Core2Duo. Inspired, I decided to upgrade the laptop's RAM from 4GB to 16GB. Now while the keyboard wasn't working 100%, I was able to work around it by using a Bluetooth Keyboard. And it works a lot faster when remaining plugged in for some reason. I recently installed a SSD to replace the mechanical hard drive, so it runs a lot faster. Not bad for something they were going to take apart anyway!

Yes I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch with a $180 upgrades such 1T Samsung SSD 16 gig of RAM a fresh new battery and replace the thermal paste and it works like sharp blade on macOS Catalina insanely fast.
Although in my mind I figured to go ahead and install macOS Ventura and it got a lil setback, it runs hot most of the time the fans almost always running and seems that runs a bit slower on macOS Ventura.
Big regret for wanting more😢 I’m gonna go back to Catalina

I have a MacBook Pro 13 late2011. The only major issue I got it was the he’d cable who broke. My HD was dying and I change it to a sdd in 2023. Now it is responsive and fast again. The case is scratch and I have lost all the 4 black tab on the bottom and the screen look like new. I like it because it can be repaired easily.
