How to wire a three way (3-way) switch, method 2

preview_player
Показать описание
Three way (3-way) switches are used to control one or more lights from 2 locations, such as on a staircase (at the top and bottom) or on both ends of a hallway. This video explains the wiring diagram. It does not matter if your switch is a regular 3-way switch or a dimmer 3-way switch - the wiring diagram or method does not change.

Please note there are 2 possible ways in which 2 3-way switches could be wired to control one (or several) lights. Method 1 is for when the light is closer to switch 2 (where switch 1 shall be the switch that shares the same box with the power source). If your bulb is closer to switch 1, you will be better off with method 2.

Thank you for posting this video! I’ve got my hallway switches wired like this and went to go replaced switches and had no idea what was going on with the wiring as it was not wired according to the conventional way of wiring a three way switch.
