An unmedicated, painful and fast labour, with an obstetric emergency (shoulder dystocia), but we are both doing great!

Thank you so much for letting us know about Aria’s birth.
40 years ago, I had the same birth story, my son was 4.5 kg and he got shoulder dystonia, they fractured my pelvis, to get him out quickly. We both recovered well, although he was not very well at first. He is now a tall handsome 40 year old with children of his own.

Congratulations on your beautiful little girl. Sara, you are an amazing woman, so strong!! You did an amazing job, and the fact that you were up walking around two hours after giving birth to a ten pound baby is unheard of! Luce's reaction to her new baby sister literally brought me to tears. You are raising such compassionate, loving kids. Luca, you have a wonderful family and I am sure you are so proud.

My son was 10lb 2oz and also had a broken collar bone. No special maneuvers…the midwife just pressed down hard on my belly when his heart rate started to drop and out he flew…he’s 6’4” and 220 lbs today at 34 years old. Huge congrats to your family! Aria is beautiful!

As an obstetrical nurse I am so relieved your baby was delivered without a loss of her life's integrity. Yes a small fracture but not a major loss. To all women please have your babies in a hospital as sad outcomes are possible in an emergency without the benefit of a cesarean . Grateful you did not have to use that option. Your family is Divine!

My mother met her best friend in 1960. They were next door neighbors in an apartment complex. Her friend had a 10lb newborn who broke his collar bone at birth. My mom could hear him cry and would go hold him so her friend could rest. Our families became very good friends. That boy grew up to have 4 daughters. His 4th baby was over 10lbs and her collar bone broke at birth too. I knew it happens but I did not know the alternative if the baby doesn't come out. Wow! God bless you! I'm so happy for you that no surgery was necessary. God is so good!
