The fact that Benson was only mad about the lack of drums shows his character development.

This is probably one of my favourite episodes. It perfectly captures what the show's all about. Taking a simple plot to the extreme level of astral projections fighting in a music battle. And I just love when the gang comes together, especially benson getting to be the hero and his talent for drumming coming back later, great stuff.

I really love how the creators made an entire episode later in the series that explains Benson’s history with his drum skills. Idk if the foreshadowing was intentional or they just decided to come back to it or what, but the creators were always good at putting small hints in other episodes and then coming back to them to help form the plot of this show.
“Benson, I didn’t know you could play the drums like that!”
“Well, it’s a long story - “

Mordecai: woah muscle man you played something

Muscle man: yeah (blows on the trumpet without playing but high fives played the keys) and you know who else blows on mean piece of brass?
Rigby: there they come
Mordecai: pops (cassette tape stops playing summer time song)
(Pops running and playing the keyboard)
Rigby: (tapping on the tambourine) one two three four
Mordecai skips and rigby and pops: aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap....
(Giant cassette tape played summer time song loud with loud waves and the waves drowned on them)
Mordecai: louder come on
Mordecai and rigby and skips and pops playing louder: aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap (louder waves goes to the Giant cassette tape and made him angry)
(Giant cassette tape making loudest waves ever and so did pops skips and muscle man and rigby and mordecai and they make green and purple musicians so they could fight)
Mordecai rigby skips and pops: aw snap (slower) aw snap (more slower)
(Bensons window breaks and saw a huge music battle that pops muscle muscle skips and mordecai and rigby doing wave beating against the giant cassette tape and so the Giant cassette tape waves getting stronger)
Rigby: he’s too strong
Mordecai: no we can do it
(Skips playing bass and so did pops and muscle man and so they couldn’t beat the cassette tape and he’s kept on playing and so the park workers tired and they rested)
Mordecai: huh
Benson Dunwoody: (driving the cart angry and growls)
Mordecai: oh shoot it’s benson
Benson Dunwoody: unbelievable
Mordecai: look benson we didn’t
Benson Dunwoody: you guys forgot the most important thing about writing a Catchy song(took the covers and it reveals the drum kit)
Mordecai and rigby: woah
Benson Dunwoody: it’s gotta have a beat (begins playing drum kit fastly and cymbals) (and point a drum stick at them)
(Mordecai and rigby saw Benson played drum kit so fast)
(Benson taps on the drum sticks and they resume playing)
Mordecai rigby and pops and skips benson: aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap
(The Giant musician stop being tired and it started fighting the other musician and started swinging the guitar)
Mordecai rigby and pops and skips and benson: aw snap aw snap come to the macaron party and we’ll take a nap aw snap...
(The Giant musician takes out the other musician.Finally the Giant cassette tape is broken up and exploded)(the park workers cheering they won)
